Hamilton Trade Aid, Cnr Alexandra & Collingwood Streets

Monday June 22, 7-9pm
On June 5-6th 2009 in Bagua, conflict between, Indigenous peoples, and the Peruvian Government over the development of the Amazon rain forest escalated resulting in the deaths of over 30 individuals*, and hundreds injured. This massacre is a direct result of U.S/ Peru Free Trade Agreements.

U.S and Peruvian trade agreements have opened the Amazon rain forest to oil and mining development threatening the lands, livelihoods, and very existence of the indigenous peoples who for centuries have called the Amazon rain forest home!

In light of recent events international support and solidarity is urgently required to decry this violence and demand peace, dialogue, justice, and human rights for the indigenous peoples of Peru who defend land and life. Your help is needed!
